In this series I explore the power of Nature to heal the wounds of the body and soul, faced with our human fragility in our current world.
In the moments of pain and loss I find true solace in a natural environment helping me cope and heal while immersed in these magical surroundings, filled with beauty and an ineffable mystery . During the forced COVID indoor isolation it was made more evident as most of us were seeking and needing more than ever, a walk in the woods, or just lying on the grass . Furthermore it is not a coincidence that the Japanese believe in “ Forest Bathing ” or “shinrin-yoku”. A Time Magazine article in 2016 claims that researchers in Japan discovered that walking through a forest lowers the levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which relates to blood pressure and immune-system functions. Additionally there is a lot of scientific evidence today stating how time in nature helps us connect with our soul on a deeper level, activating our five senses enhancing our affinity to it. Thus Nature is restorative and imperative for our well being.
I chose a young man symbolising this future of possibilities, whom by further connecting with his vulnerability and sensitive side, can become more nurturing and less predatory in his relationship with Mother Nature.
Moreover Quantum Physics has already demonstrated how we are all connected and depend on one another, therefore personally I feel that even as Nature heals us, we can heal her back, also stressing the importance of caring for our natural world and preserving it for a better future.
Healings of roses, now called to be
Whispering in the wind, that he can see
Fluttering in air, like a dream
The healing blooms, make the spirit beam
In the soft winds, he can feel their power
A young man, growing more every hour.
Winds of magic, so sweetly blowing
In the air, flowers start glowing
A young man, so deep in thought
Feeling the pain, undoing the knots
Senses are heightened , sensitivity brought
The gentle breeze, now so light
Touches his soul, day and night
